Allow Jersey City High Schools To Have Outdoor Graduation!

The Issue

As Jersey City’s high-school class of 2020 we want an outdoor graduation, we are currently hearing news from the board of education on their current decision, where they’re establishing that we do not get an outdoor graduation and instead a virtual one that will be casted on JCETV will replace our traditions and hard work. We would like each school to have an outdoor graduation we do not mind if it is in July or even if it extends. Cap and gowns should be included as they are traditional graduation attire. The graduation should not stretch out it should be the length of the previous traditional graduations that took place in the previous years.
They should not be on the same day to avoid unwanted crowds as we will want them to comply to the social distancing rules. They can be stretched out into 2 weeks time or more we do not mind.
Family being invited is not necessary if it does not align with the social distancing guideline but if possible 2 family members will suffice.
Out-door locations can be: Lincoln Park Football Field, NJCU Field, Caven Point, Liberty State Park.
From what’s appropriate outdoor graduations were  given the okay from our governor on 05/26/2020 we as a class earned and deserve this graduation we  had no celebrations and a lack of happiness for our accomplishments as a group, this graduation would mean the world to us. Our graduation is the only hope left for a milestone event we get to look forward to. Many other districts are going above and beyond for their seniors they are dropping off their students caps gowns in front of their front doors. On Saturday 05/23/2020 Fort Lee High school in New Jersey also put up pictures of the students faces on the schools lawn in celebration of their students achievements. A virtual graduation could never compare to a traditional graduation. In Jersey City we always preach no student left behind, not every student will attend college so this will be one of their only/ last school celebrations they will ever attend. As a community we should always practice what we preach.
