Revise/stop the eviction moratorium policy in Washington state.

The Issue

Since the eviction moratorium started, the financial pressure has been mounting on families of small landlords and would eventually to lead to foreclosure of our hard-earned rental properties. We small landlords are suffering financially. Many tenants are not paying rents not because they are affected by COVID, but because they simply can.

It is not fair for small landlords like myself to carry all the burdens. If I don’t pay my mortgages, the bank can eventually foreclose on my properties. But when tenants don’t pay rent, landlord have no collateral to collect from the tenants. IT IS NOT FAIR. If the government wants tenants to stay in their homes, the government shall sponsor tenants. Landlords shall not have to burden to subsidize for tenants. We don’t have the financial resources to do so.

The financial debt owed by tenants is staggering everyday.  WE HAVE NO RECOURSE. WHY IS THE GOVERNMENT NOT HELPING US? STOP OR REVISE THE EVICTION MORATORIUM. LET US GO TO COURT AND THE JUDGE CAN DECIDE IF THE TENANTS SHOULD STOP PAYING RENTS CASE BY CASE.
