Fair and Transparent Vetting Process For Washington State DOC Superintendent Larch Prison

Fair and Transparent Vetting Process For Washington State DOC Superintendent Larch Prison

The Issue

The Coalition of Minority Employees, Vancouver Branch NAACP, Clark County Community Organizations, partners and prison employees at Larch Corrections Center (LCC), are requesting your assistance and oversight in establishing a fair and transparent vetting process for selection of the new Superintendent at Larch Corrections Center.

The practice in appointing Superintendents have resulted in poor quality leadership and high turnover at LCC.  The legacy of poor leadership and high turnover has had negative impact on employees and their families, as well as the community and inmates.

How can you help?
We are asking you to direct the Washington State Department of Corrections Secretary, Stephen Sinclair to reach out to our community partners (including those listed below) and participate in fair and transparent vetting process for the next LCC Superintendent.

How does this help?
This gives prison staff and Clark County Community a voice in the vetting process. This Community/DOC partnership strengthens the Change Management Process through open and honest communication. It also Provides buy-in from staff and the community and introduces the candidate(s) to the culture at LCC as well as the community they will serve.

Allowing staff and community to be part of the vetting process, and to provide feedback reduces future issues that may arise.

The healing that needs to occur will take someone with proven leadership and fresh ideas that we believe can only come with a fair and transparent vetting process.
