On July 4th, 2019 Scott Mathews and his girlfriend Katherine O'Neal became upset when a 14-year-old boy and 9-year-old girl were celebrating the holiday with fireworks at their apartment complex.

Armed with handguns, Mathews and O'Neal, confronted the children and one of the children's mother, saying that the fireworks were scaring their dog. 

During the argument, the angry couple elected to draw their weapons on the woman and children; Mathews went as far as head butting the woman. Jaharie would soon come out to see his girlfriend bleeding and the children stricken with fear.

Jaharie confronted Mathews where the confrontation resulted with Mathews shooting him in cold blood.

Though Mathews is awaiting trial in Fall 2020, justice must be served in its totality. O'Neal remains unaccounted for in her role in the murder of Jaharie Wheeler. Whether death was not her intention, she was an accomplice in the murder of a Father of 4.

Too many times, heinous crimes like this one are overlooked or prolonged to allow the accused the ability to avoid media attention. This petition will be used to spread awareness, and urge the officials of Aurora to do what is just in the murder or Jaharie Wheeler.
