Dear Minister O'Sullivan,Please make the teaching of CSPE (Civil, Social and Political Education) a core part of the curriculum with a focus on student learning.

"The lack of debate about the exclusion of civic, social and political education (CSPE) from the core curriculum of the proposed new Junior Cycle programme is almost as surprising as the subject's downgrading."(Source: extract from an article in The Sunday Times 02-02-2014 by Dr. Gerry Jeffers. Today we have a global population of over 7BILLION. That figure will rise to over 9.3BILLION within the next twenty years. Ireland's education system must prepare students for issues that will impact their lives such as: climate change, natural resource depletion and related poverty.
CSPE is a great opportunity/vehicle to reaffirm our collective responsibility to promote harmony with nature at a time when our planet is under threat from climate change, unsustainable exploitation of natural resources and other man-made problems.
Ireland's multicultural students deserve the right to be properly informed and prepared for such a world and all it's possibilities. http://www.justforests.org/events/gmit-letterfrack-2?type=schedule&view=all
