Fitbit: Implement Capability to Turn Off Bluetooth Emissions from Your Fitness Trackers

The Issue

Fitness Trackers have become very popular and successful in motivating people to live healthier lives, but at a potential cost.  Fitbit's devices can track many aspects of people's lives, including steps taken, workouts, calories burned, sleep, nutrition, and heart rates, while emitting electromagnetic field radiation (EMF) constantly. The company states that the radiation emitted by a Fitbit device is less powerful than that given off by cell phones.  Still, as a skeptic of excessive radiation in modern lives, I am concerned about Fitbit's Bluetooth emission even if it is lower than the typical cell phone.  We do not wear our cell phones on our bodies constantly day and night, like a typical fitness tracker is worn on the wrist.

There has been a connection between cell phones and head and neck cancers, as well as other health problems .  According to the World Health Organization, "The electromagnetic fields produced by mobile phones are classified by the International Agency for Research on Cancer as possibly carcinogenic to humans."  They recommend we keep our cell phones inches away from our bodies by using speaker phone or headphones, and that we turn off the Bluetooth and Wi-Fi capabilities when not in use, in order to diminish the amount of radiation our bodies absorb over time.  I believe we should also have the option to turn off the Bluetooth emissions from our Fitbit Fitness Tracker, and am petitioning Fitbit to please implement this capability in their devices.
