Justice for Ahmaud

The Issue

Ahmaud Arbery, 25, was murdered Febuary 23 in a neighborhood outside the coastal port city of Brunswick, Georgia. No one has been arrested or charged in the case, prompting an outcry from the local NAACP and others. Ahmad Arbery was an African American man and the men who chased him are caucasian. This is not about race but, justice. If the men are allowed to walk free without repercussions then we as the American people have failed. Time in and time out people fall far from justice.  No one is above the law, no matter what their intentions were in the lawless act. As the American people we must hold our judicial positions in power accountable as they are accountable for enforcing the law. Since the justice system has taken no course of action to hold anyone responsible for the murder of Ahmed, we must take measures into our own hands and peacefully protest.  We must demand that these two men be arrested and tried in a court of law. As the preamble of the constitution states “we the people, in order to form a more perfect union: establish justice, ensure domestic tranquility... to ourselves and our prosperity.” America was founded on these principles, and we owe it to not only ourselves, but to Ahmed, his family, his friends and too many others like him.
