SAVE BARNES & NOBLE AT THE WALK IN CORAL SPRINGS!
SAVE BARNES & NOBLE AT THE WALK IN CORAL SPRINGS!
The Issue
Barnes & Noble at The Walk is embedded in the community of Coral Springs, Florida. It is a place to gather for a positive experience, share ideas, seek respite, learn new things, and support the written word and the literary arts. It has come to our attention that the Coral Springs Barnes & Noble, located on University Drive at The Walk, was outbid on their lease renewal, by, out of all things, a grocery store. There are at least 10 grocery-type stores in Coral Springs. Do we really need another? There are so many prime locations where this grocery store can thrive, without sacrificing this integral part of our community. Such examples include: the site of the old Orchard Hardware Store on Royal Palm and Coral Springs Drive; and the location for Coral Springs' new downtown.
Besides Barnes & Noble being important to the city, its residents, and its neighboring residents (it is the only location in this area, with the next closest one being in the City of Plantation), it is also peoples' livelihood that will be affected, since job transfers may not be guaranteed.
On The Walk's website, "The Walk is the ultimate social sanctuary to gather with family and friends to laugh, live and love"...Can you do that with a grocery store?
Please let your voices be heard by signing this position to help us save this incredible part of our community...Barnes & Noble.
