Adopt the Green Future Now Act for 2nd Middlesex

The Issue

This is a petition to raise local support for the Green Future Now Act, explained in detail at https://www.greenfuturenowma.org/legislation To actually raise the funds and begin the process of meeting the climate goals set by Massachusetts, we need funds to invest in green infrastructure to help residents. 

This petition is aimed to tell our local representatives, particularly of Westford and Littleton, that this is issue is important to our citizens. 

This bill: 

- unlocks 10 Billion dollars by closing polluter fee loopholes and issuing green bonds

- creates 80,000 jobs by 2030 and cuts carbon emissions

- establishes a Green Infrastructure Fund to invest in electrified transportation, rebates for efficient consumer heating, and expanding renewable energy. It also allocates funds for lowering infrastructural emissions and creating resilient communities prepared for climate impacts. Promotes new community-led models of environmental justice. 

- Creates a Green Workforce Commission, setting aside $10 Million to facilitate a just transition for fossil fuel workers, training them for environmentally sound jobs for the 21st century. Provides direct cash benefits to protect vulnerable residents.
