The calling in meeting to discuss the proposed closure of Castlegate services took place yesterday - 11 speakers came to give their council their views, including professionals working in the sector, academics and young people. Thank you to those speakers for their passionate words. The youtube link to the meeting is below if you would like to see what happened (it's a riveting two hours, so perhaps just dip in!). The result of the meeting was a step in the right direction - the committee voted unanimously to refer the decision to close Castlegate services back to the Cabinet meeting to reconsider their previous decision. The fight continues! Key dates: - The petition will be handed in on Monday 10th November to the Corporate and Scrutiny Management Committee - if you haven't already asked your friends and contacts to sign, please do by Sunday 9th November. If you would like to attend the meeting or to speak at it, please contact York Council's Democratic Services by emailing jill.pickering@york.gov.uk or calling 01904 552061. - The Cabinet meeting will take place on Tuesday 25th November, when a decision will be made as to the future of the service. If you would like to attend this meeting or to speak at it, please contact York Council's Democratic Services by emailing jill.pickering@york.gov.uk or calling 01904 552061. The process has been a lengthy and complicated one, so if you have any questions about it, please let me know! Or you can of course contact the council contact above. Many thanks, Kate
