York Council's 'Calling in' meeting to review the decision to close 29 Castlegate was held last night, attended by a huge number of people who gave their support to the service. Revised proposals for the future of delivery of services at Castlegate will come back to Cabinet in February.
We would like to thank everyone for their wonderful support with this campaign. Without the petition the Council would not have reviewed the provision of holistic support provided at Castlegate. The councillors at York City Council were very impressed with the comments made on this petition and also at the meetings by people who have had their lives turned around for the better by the service Castlegate provides, as well as academics, carers and parents. The chair of the calling in meeting said that Castlegate 'is a service that is needed, it is a service that is valued, it is a service that must continue.' They admitted that they did not realise how important the service was to the people of York.
This could not have happened with you! It is by no means the end of the road but a step in the right direction. A further report will go from officers to the Council in early 2015 looking at all options regarding funding and situation of the service.

Thank you again!
