Free Adidja Palmer AKA Vybz Kartel AKA Worldboss

The Issue

Adidja Azim Palmer (born 7 January 1976) better known as Vybz Kartel, is a Jamaican reggae-dancehall recording artist, record producer and entrepreneur. Among his various nicknames, he is referred to as "Worldboss" and has been recognized as one of the genre’s most prolific and skilled lyricists credited with further popularizing dancehall.

Kartel's singles have achieved cultural ubiquity across the Caribbean, including "Ramping Shop", "Summer Time" and "Dancehall Hero". Having collaborated with a number of internationally prominent hip hop and R&B artists such as Major Lazer, Rihanna and Jay Z, he has also been credited as an inspiration for the dancehall-infused work of a number of Western artists, including Drake, who has cited Kartel as being one of his "biggest inspirations".

In 2014, Kartel and three co-accused, Shawn “Storm” Campbell, Kahira Jones, and Shane Williams was sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of associate Clive "Lizard" Williams. Kartel will be eligible for parole once he has served a minimum of 35 years in prison. Despite being imprisoned, Kartel continues to release new music prolifically, releasing over 50 new songs in 2016.

Vybz Kartel was not given a fair trial, as the "evidence" was tampered with by the police, witness statements and a compact disc with evidence saved on it somehow went missing, and they didn't find a body or any matching DNA, ect. Vybz's ultimate conviction was based on incriminating statements, like that one, that authorities say they discovered on his phone. Recordings were leaked to Jamaica's Nationwide News. The incriminating texts found in Kartel's phone, were sent after his phone was seized. The key witness had his aunt deliver a handwritten letter to the defense for him that admits he was lying. They even had a handwriting expert verify the note in court. The jury was made up of 11 corrupt jurors.

The 65-day trial was said to have been the longest in Jamaica’s history and it only took the jury less than two hours to reach a verdict.

Vybz Kartel needs to be freed, his fans and his kids/friends and other family members miss him dearly.
