Operating since 1948,the Mayport Ferry provided over 200,000 trips in 2011.It attracts tourism,services local needs,saves time/gas for those using it regularly.Losing the ferry will impact Mayport's community and all of Jacksonville's beaches far greater than anyone can predict regardless of what the ferry's profit and loss statements are.
