I am a 15 year old girl from Aotearoa and I am starting this petition because I walk down the aisles in the supermarkets and all I see is plastic packaging. Toilet paper, sanitary products, paper towels and many more things that are all unnecessarily packaged in plastic. As most know, plastic can take hundreds of years to break down, if at all. This is why plastic is a major pollutant and significantly contribute to landfill waste and sea pollution. 

I believe that non-perishable items have no need to be packaged in plastic. These products can easily be put in biodegradable packaging and have no disadvantage to the product.
