Petsmart doesn’t allow pitbulls or dogs that look like them in their puppy camps or in activities in which dogs will be off leashes. The corporation openly disregards the fact that temperament and training come together in a dog or any other animal’s behavior not a breed classification. It is shameful to see them offering services such as vaccinations and training to anyone who can pay but when it has free activities, to help with pets socialization, limited it access to the pitbull breed or pitbull mixed dogs. It is my understanding that ANY dog can act aggressively towards a person or any other animal. And it is a fact that breeds like the Rottweiler are more aggressive and have the strongest bite per pound. Also it is a fact that smaller dogs and dog breeds like chihuahua tend to bite more and show more territorial aggressiveness that the America Stratfordshire Terrier or the American Pitbull Terrier, their mixes or bully mixed. Also, it is a fact that Pitbulls can pass the temperament test with scores higher than the Labrador Retriever. Petsmart should limit its access to these activities based on temperament test done in the store or if the owners have a certificate that proof their pet’s temperament ( from a veterinarian or even the AKC Good K-9 Citizen).Also, if the dog was trained at the store it should be allowed in the store’s activities.
