Sports are not being played in Illinois. This is a problem because we need sports. I am a junior in high school and all my life all I wanted to do was play Friday night light football. But I cannot anymore because of covid restrictions. For many years kids have gotten to high school and gotten to play sports. Its a tradition for many people to play sports when they are in high school. For many people this is their last chance to play sports before not being able too, growing up, and going to college. For some people sports is what gets them to college and taking that away is ruining their future. People are not getting the scholarships they want or deserve and I know several people who deserve better offers or offers at all then what they have right now. Part of the reason a lot of Illinois kids arent getting as many scholarships is because every other state in the midwest, and most around the country are playing sports. This makes colleges go look at other states to recruit from instead of us. Now, I understand covid is a global pandemic that if effecting many people. But, that doesn't effect people playing high school sports, we are not likely to get sick and die from this virus. How come college sports are playing but not high school. They are the ones with bigger programs and more people. Plus we did training camps, not one person had covid and I didnt hear any other program having to shut down. Why can we not play sports then. It was same risk then as it is now and as we saw nothing happened, making there no reason for our sports to be shut down. This is destroying the thing so many people look forward too in their childhood. We need to play sports!
