Grant Clemency for Ellis

The Issue

In October 2015 I became pen pals with a US Prisoner Ellis. Having now known him for 6 years, i have had the opportunity to get to know him and from what I see... his outlook on life and his deep remorse to those who have been affected by his actions and bad decisions he made is evident.

I first reached out to Ellis because I wanted to show at least one individual that they're in prison due to their weakest moment, a misguided path that they chose to take and follow and that, there is a possibility for them to rise above their past and become whole again by their dedication, commitment, strength, and will to change.

In 2011 Ellis then 18 years old was sentenced to 31 years at 50% for a Home Invasion armed w/firearm. He is now 29 years old and a completely changed and different person. We are in constant communication and I have seen the kind, compassionate and genuine individual he is. He acknowledges his wrong decisions and his poor lifestyle choices and doesn't blame anyone for his actions. I really believe he has learnt from his past actions and I believe he will succeed.

He obtained his GED whilst incarcerated and hasn't had a disciplinary ticket in 7 years. He has had different jobs in the last 5 years and has completed various classes. He is currently employed as a recycler in the facility he is at now. He spends a lot of time reading entrepreneur/ business magazines and has hopes and dreams to create a successful business upon his release. He also plans on helping to encourage other incarcerated individuals to let them know that anyone can change if they really want to.

Since his incarceration he's lost a lot of loved ones one of them being his father who was his role model and who inspired him to change and do better. He loved him dearly and promised to do him proud. He wishes to be reunited with his loved ones and make up for lost time. He has nieces and a nephew who have only met him whilst inside and for that, Ellis is seeking for your support in being granted clemency from The Governor of Illinois. We are asking for as many signatures as possible so that he can be granted clemency.

Thank you for taking the time to read.
