Clemency for Leland Dudley

The Issue

Words from Leland Dudley #K59336

On 5/30/79, I was born and raised in Chicago Illinois. Where I received a G.E.D and became a carpenter and mechanic. I am a married man (currently seperated) with one son, Lamar Dansberry age 20 and two step children. Jamal Dansberry (Deceased) and Devonty Dansberry age 27. I have good relationships and as well as all their friends. In my past I did have a alcohol problem that didn't allow me to make good decisions that got me into trouble that I wish I could change, but all in all every problem I over come makes me into a stronger and better person for the ones I love and every one around me. I'm a hard worker, loyal and trust worthy person and will go over and beyond for anyone with a good heart and. I am also a man of faith.

On 4/30/12, Myself (Leland Dudley) and two other co-defendants was hanging out drinking and made a bad decision by going unarmed and broke into an empty Electronics store (Mike Electronic) at 2:30am. We loaded up a van that was in the back of the store, where there wasn't a window. As we were done and about to leave, I realized the garage door had two locks to keep it closed. So I used the back of the van to bump the garage door to brake the locks. It didn't brake, So I pulled up to bump the door again when my co-defendant told me to watch out and before I knew it, I blacked out to wake up a month later, coming out of a coma with 38% of my skull missing. I found out I was shot 6 times by C.P.D (Chicago Police Department). I had    2 gun shot wounds to the back, 2 to the left top shoulder, and 2 to the left side of my head where they exited out the front of my forehead. Causing me to now have two plates in my skull, brain and nerve damage, memory loss, seizures, high blood pressure, and asthma. I found out that C.P.D fired over 78 rounds that hit the van and killed one of my co-defendants and the other was put in a wheel chair for life because of a burglary of a store at 2:30am. After C.PD firing over 78 rounds and killing a co-defendant, The I.P.R.A (Independent Police Review Authority) came to investigate all the police involved in the shooting and in the I.P.R.A report, Investigators came to the conclusion that C.P.D violated the C.P.D's use of deadly force policy by shooting me and my two co-defendants with lawful justification, and also violated their policy about firing into a moving vehicle with justification. The disciplinary recommendation being a 20 day suspension for every C.P.D officer that fired their weapon that night, for claims of excessive force. Where in a Civil proceeding a co-defendant received a settlement for the police misconduct and excessive force.

I am seeking an emergency clemency in the age of Covid-19, due to my health conditions that turns my sentence into a death sentence. My second reason, my case has been found to be that I have been over charged and have been gone 8 years and 10 months, where I received 6 years for burglary, and auto theft. Then I  received 25 years for felony murder for my co-defendant.
