Inclusive Sizes for Ivy Park x Adidas

The Issue

Beyoncé says, NO FAT GIRLS ALLOWED for Ivy Park Collection!

Flashback over 20 years ago to a elementary school playground, children running and laughing and gathering under the monkey bars... I’m a plump 10ish year old girl new to the school and I walk up to join the school yard festivities, before I can quite join the group one of the other children runs up to me and yells “NO FAT GIRLS ALLOWED”

My heart sank as I absorbed the blow... I walk off alone and no one seems to notice the incident, not the other students as they continue to frolic and not the teachers as the continue their free time chatter, I look back once again and I can’t tell which little one was the culprit they all blended in laughing and jumping over one another. I was hurt but I made it on playing with the other kids who were nicer to me.

Fast Forward to the day of the Ivy Park x Adidas release...

Buzz buzz buzz... my phone starts going off... its the group chat. All the girls are buzzing about the Ivy Park Release. WHOOOHOOOO NEW BEYONCÉ STUFF!!! Posting screenshots of the wait screen and gushing over their favorite pieces.  I go to to the site to get in virtual line and I finally get through to see Beyoncé in all her good curvy girl glory rocking each and every item to perfection and as I go to click on the Asymmetrical Dress I see the sizes only go up to XL my heart sank... I wear an XXXL and then I hear Beyoncé say, “NO FAT GIRLS ALLOWED”

Why is this happening? My head spins and Im back to that incident in the playground over 20 years ago. Once I get off the site and check my messages and check social media it’s like nothing happened. My devastation is met with silence. A couple Plus Influencers have spoken out, but the comments are mixed. “Shop with designers who make your size” WHAT! Your telling me the epitome of curviness.... the leader of Girl Power... the second coming of Micheal Jackson quadrupled.... the epitome of working motherhood... comes out with a clothing line of LOUNGE WEAR and I can’t be apart of it because Im 3 sizes away. That’s insane.

It’s just like all those years ago when no one seemed to care. the other children and teachers on that playground so long ago, everyone moves along with their lives like it is nothing.

I’ve streamed and purchased all the albums, seen her and her husband on both OTR tours, traveled to other cities and states to catch her shows and even did an ode to her in a Halloween Costume one year... worn DEREON for New Years.... And because I’m 3 sizes to big I can’t indulge in Ivy Park?! NO!

NO! NO! THAT’S NOT RIGHT!

It’s 2020 for crying out loud!!!! And I know there are other Women who feel the same way, because I have met them. I’ve talked, shared experiences, cried, defended, encouraged, motivated, and lived with them... We started the movements that pushed major brands like Nike and Adidas to start carrying plus sizes AND use plus models/influencers. So why not have the Ivy Park Collection go up to 4X? Fat Girls love Beyoncé too. The movement got to Beyoncé when she seemed to support curvy Women, by embracing her own curves and even becoming one with her FUPA. She has used Plus Sized back up dancers and singers before so why leave us out now?

Is it that troublesome to produce leggings and t shirts in larger sizes? Like I said Adidas already does it and so does Nike. The average Woman here in America wears a size 16-18, she may or may not be able to fit an xl. Plus Size Fashion racks in over $20 Billion dollars a year and for some reason Ivy Park and Adidas decided they didn’t want any part of that.

Well Im not just going to walk away without saying anything this time! Women deserve better! Fat Women deserve better! I DESERVE BETTER!! We DESERVE BETTER!!

So speak up with me by signing and sharing this petition to let Ivy Park and Adidas know that we DEMAND Size Inclusion.
