On September 11th 2019, Piers Morgan said that he was now identifying as a 'penguin' on Good Morning Britain as a joke which was clearly targeted at transgender people who identify as a different gender to the one that they were assigned with at birth. Not only was this joke transphobic, but none of his co hosts told him that it was wrong of him to make the comment.

This is far from the first time that Piers Morgan has made jokes or negative comments directed at transgender people on Good Morning Britain. Such comments only belittles the struggles that transgender people face in order to feel comfortable and accepted within society as well as making transphobia more 'acceptable' within society, something which needs to be stamped out.

In light of this, Piers Morgan needs to be fired from Good Morning Britain as he should not be allowed a platform to spew hatred about transgender people. Transphobia has no place within our society, and it needs to eradicated as opposed to normalised.
