Bring back Whitechapel!

Bring back Whitechapel!
The Issue
I have started to lose a lot of faith in television these days. Although many programs on ITV are entertaining for the viewers and may be more mainstream and popular, they can't be compared to this show: Whitechapel. If you have watched the program this will make a lot more sense, but hopefully I will encourage people to watch the program to prove to ITV as to why Whitechapel should not be scrapped.
It may seems like a very trivial thing but to me it is not. Whitechapel was a crime-drama that featured on ITV. Despite being quite graphic in areas, Whitechapel was a brilliant program that absolutley improved the weeks of endless same-old rubbish that often are on our screens now.
Whitechapel was a very important program because of one paticular reason: It made people think. You might find that television is incredibly relaxing, and of course there is nothing wrong with that. But at the same time, viewers want to be able to cling to their seats, be frightened and be held in suspence. And Whitechapel was the perfect example of this.
At the end of the last series I was desperate for more! It seemed as though to me that ITV had held the show on a cliffhanger ready to pounce for the next series as to what might actually happen? Would the team discover the truth behind the woman stalking their cases? I couldn't wait. As a family we watch the show altogether, and it's one of the few programs we can all actually enjoy together believe it or not.
I recieved the news from my mum who told me that the next series had been cancelled and I felt unbelievably disapointed and sad. Was one of the cast seriously ill? I discovered that the actual reason was that ITV was actually to "continue to refresh the channel's drama portfolio". The series was left at an open end for another series. So why end it there? I could understand more and be more sympathetic if one of the main cast decided they didn't want to carry on, in which case they should have concluded a final episode or tried to write it into a script to replase them with another actor. But by removing a program as entertaining, gripping and thrilling as Whitechapel, ITV is turning itself into a place of cheap television to entertain the masses and destroying its reputation for excellent drama. Now Poirot is gone too, is there no end to this carnage? I shall be incredibly disapointed if what is meant to replace it turns out to be some droll show with nothing for anyone with at least half a brain cell. they say this is not a suprise after 'only' 4.9 million viewers watched the last series, but that's still 4.9 million viewers that ITV will probably lose now.
On belhalf of all the fans out there I write this petition to get the voices of Whitechapel fans heard. Do not leave us like this ITV, bring back our beloved show so we can carry on cringing at the graphic moments for all the right reasons! WE NEED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENED IN WHITECHAPEL ITV!!!
