After confirming that Chicago's Little Italy will not see the return of Joe DiMaggio at Piazza DiMaggio, it's time to make a difference, to Save that Piazza dedicated to our Italian American community, and honor someone from Taylor St. worthy of this honor. We couldn't think of anyone as courageous, fearless, and passionate about Saving Chicago's Little Italy other than Florence Scala. Please sign this petition started to honor this Taylor St. Hero who fought City Hall to Save our family's homes and businesses before UIC took so much of our neighborhood from us! We want Florence Scala Plaza. We know that she would be smiling down from Heaven today. She defined resiliency, courage, and integrity in the face of adversity. Florence represented our Italian American community on Taylor St as a social justice warrior and just like so many of our mothers, grandmothers, and great grandmothers from Taylor St., she was a strong and fearless woman with a heart of gold.
