It was Unfair - Were you unaware of exam being online until last minute?
The Issue
THIS IS OUR TIME TO ACT
We, the undersigned students and concerned individuals, hereby petition Montego Bay Community College to urgently address the unfair examination practices and their consequential impact on the student body. It has come to our attention that both students and lecturers were blindsided by the last-minute announcement of the exams, leaving us ill-prepared and overwhelmed. The fact that lecturers themselves acknowledge the absurdity of the situation emphasizes the flawed approach taken by the administration. Despite attempts by some lecturers to advocate for alternative exam arrangements, their concerns were dismissed, resulting in the unnecessary exposure of students. The consequences of these actions have been dire, with students experiencing the worst grades in years, as reported by concerned lecturers. Furthermore, we have heard reports that Montego Bay Community College was the sole institution to conduct face-to-face exams, raising questions about fairness and consistency across institutions. We call on the Ministry Of Education to conduct a thorough investigation, establish transparent exam scheduling, foster open dialogue, review the grading system, and ensure equitable practices across all educational institutions. By taking these steps, Montego Bay Community College can rectify the situation, restore confidence in its commitment to quality education, and promote a supportive academic environment. Join us in demanding immediate action for the sake of fairness and excellence in education.
