My girlfriend and I have a rescue Shih Tzu six years old. She was abused by her previous family. When we went to get our rescue dog the family told us if she wasn’t taken away that night she would be put to sleep the next day. Needless to say she came home with us that night. She is terrified of males as the father kicked her around and the young son pulled her tail.  She is scared of any male she comes into contact with apart from me. Every time she hears a firework, she goes running upstairs to the bathroom terrified and shaking. Fireworks are nothing but the biggest waste of money on the planet. Why would you want to waste your money you might as well just set your money on fire. They disturb people sleeping, dogs are terrified of them, wildlife are terrified they propel a cocktail of chemicals into the atmosphere harming people, animals and the environment, they contain metallic compounds such as barium and aluminium that have a negative impact on health, they contain oxidisers that dissolve into water contaminating rivers, lakes and drinking water and are just generally a nuisance they also cause countless injuries to people. They cause problems for the fire service and the NHS as there was 15,600 people that were treated for injuries caused by fireworks of which 18 died in 2020 66% of these injuries were in November alone. Time to ban fireworks. I hope I can count on everybody to do the right thing let’s get this petition into parliament. Thank you in advance.
