It’s time for the Florida Panthers to permanently reinstate the original leaping cat logo.

The Issue

It is time for The Florida Panthers to permanently reinstate the original leaping cat logo.
The logo of our Florida Panthers represents more than any one individual.  It is the icon of the team.  It is the identity and the spirit, as important as the name of the team itself.  As opening night fans, it was the original leaping cat logo that we hung on our walls, wore on our shirts, waved on flags and banners, and that adorned the team jerseys.
Before we go any further, something needs to be made absolutely clear.  The current ownership, Mr. Vincent Viola and Mr. Doug Cifu, as well as President Matthew Caldwell and GM Bill Zito truly do outstanding work for the team and for the community.  We are fans of theirs.  Since Day 1, they have shown their true commitment and genuine care for our Cats and we have the greatest respect and gratitude for them.  With that firmly established, we wish to reach out to them directly.
We have an idea for a compromise: make BOTH logos canon.  How?  The new shield becomes the tertiary logo and the original leaping cat (NOT the current tertiary leaping cat) moves front and center.  How do we make the original logo fresh for the future?  The answer already exists, the immensely popular Adidas “Reverse Retro” jerseys.  These jerseys have been embraced by the majority of the fans and continue to be the top selling item in Pantherland.  The color schemes blend old and new eras of jerseys which gives a fresh look to the original design. The original leaping cat is on the front, the sun & stick are on the shoulder, and the new shield logo could round things out as the helmet sticker.  If these jerseys were to become permanent, with a red or white variant for away games, there is no telling the level of excitement and gratitude the fans would have.
The momentum is here and the time is now.    Please return the original leaping cat to the jerseys of our Florida Panthers.
