It's been Eight Years of Hell! Grant the Rohingya People Safe Passage!

The Issue

My name is Kristy Raines.  I started this petition a few years ago and I am asking for signatures once again for a problem that has never been resolved.  I am an American citizen, proudly representing the Rohingya refugees currently residing in Bangladesh in refugee camps, because it is the right thing to do, and this is the least I can do.  I am submitting this petition once again and asking all to sign so that it can be presented to The ICC, The President of the United States, The President of Bangladesh, The United Nations, and any entity that have any interest or leverage in helping the Rohingya People return to their country safely because they have no home, no rights and are suffering greatly still. Representatives of the United Nations have already proclaimed that Myanmar’s treatment of its Rohingya minority a “text book” ethnic cleansing along with the ICC, yet no sentence has been carried out against the AA, and the Rohingya people are in the same situation. These are crimes against humanity and the fading people now living in refugee camps deserve justice and a place called their home.
Now, there are even more Rohingya pouring into the refugee camps as the remaining Rohingya in Myanmar have had their property taken away from them and have once again been run out of their country with even more lives lost.  And yet, no one hears them. In this day in age it seems like this should not be happening. They have a right to go to their homeland, yet, not one has taken serious steps to help them regain their own country. No one can live stateless, they barely survive.  People who know their story are outraged.  Only Bangladesh ever took them in, giving them a place that was never meant to be permanent.

Rohingya refugee crisis story:
Flight from Myanmar to Bangladesh, The Rohingya are a Muslim minority community that has lived for centuries in Myanmar, where they have long suffered persecution. In August 2017, having become the targets of a military-led campaign of brutal violence, over 700,000 Rohingya fled Myanmar’s Rakhine state into Bangladesh, joining hundreds of thousands more who had fled Myanmar during a previous exodus. The refugees settled in Cox’s Bazar. By not taking action and not speaking out, it would look to some people, that many Governments and Officials have become accomplices to the atrocity inflicted on the oppressed and, thus, has inadvertently pronounced allegiance with the murderers, emboldening them to continue to kill, rape, torture, abductions, and oppress behind the scene, and, in turn, allowing this culture of oppression permeate our global community and abandoning our fellow global citizens at the hands of mass murderers, bigots, and liars.

I am petitioning to express the Rohingya Refugee's desire to repatriate to Myanmar. They have been living in refugee camps for eight years now and want to return to their homeland.  The camps are now filled with more violence, gang activity, murder, rape and human trafficking.  many of them taken to other countries.  No one will help.  So I hope this petition gets many signatures so that it can be submitted and put the pressure on many countries to come together and help The Rohingya.

We understand that the situation in Myanmar hasn’t improved, but we hope that with the help of the international community, a safe and dignified return is possible.

From The Rohingya People living in Cox's Bazar:

We demand that the Government of Myanmar ensure our safety and security upon our return. We want to be assured that we will not face persecution or discrimination based on our ethnicity or religion and revise the 1982 citizenship law. We also demand that our basic human rights are respected, including the right to education, healthcare, and freedom of movement. The leadership in Myanmar, although overtly expresses “concern” about the situation at home, has in fact blatantly turned a blind eye to the murdering and violating of Rohingya Muslims for years.
We are also deeply concerned about the fellow Rohingyas who remain in Myanmar and surviving in the Refugee Camps of Bangladesh and other countries. We urge you to take action to support the rights and well being of Rohingya Refugees by coordinating with the Concerned Government and humanitarian actors and to ensure the children have access to education, take measures to protect the refugees in the camps and have the livelihood opportunities and enough medical services.
Bangladesh Rohingya Refugees Camp is the biggest camp in the world with over one million people living there. 55 percent or more are children and don't get a chance to get a proper education. That's why we don't want to stay in refugees camp for long time and we want to go back to our homeland with full of right and justice. Everyday we are hearing that the sound of gun shooting and dead news. How can we continue to survive our life in Refugees camps?
We urge and turn to the United States and the administrations of every Government official to use its influence to pressure the Government of Myanmar to create a conducive environment for our return. We also call on the international community to provide the necessary support to ensure a safe and dignified return of Rohingya People to original homeland, Rakhine State Myanmar.

Sincerely,
Kristy Raines of The United States of America, and the Rohingya People who are barely existing in the Refugee Camps of Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh
