It Ends With Us: Release the Director's Cut
The Issue
We respectfully request the release of the Director's Cut of the film It Ends With Us—specifically, Justin Baldoni’s version. Mr. Baldoni has dedicated extensive time and effort to ensuring that the adaptation of this important book accurately reflects the complexities of domestic violence. His vision for the film is vital in shedding light on the experiences of survivors and victims.
Throughout the promotional tour and release of the film, there have been numerous false claims made against Mr. Baldoni and his team by the lead actress and her PR representatives. These allegations have led to unwarranted hostility directed at Mr. Baldoni, his production company, and his family. The ensuing damage has been significant, and it is crucial that this toxicity comes to an end. We kindly ask the main actress to issue a public apology to Mr. Baldoni and to Domestic Violence survivors.
In light of these events, we also urge the lead actress to contribute 18% of proceeds from her recent haircare line launch—a venture specifically associated with the film’s promotional activities despite having nothing to do with domestic abuse—to a nonprofit organization supporting domestic violence survivors. This gesture would demonstrate a commitment and understanding to the cause and help counteract the harm caused by the misinformation spread during the film’s promotion courtesy of her team.
While we acknowledge past controversies and disagreements (mainly, but not limited to: plantation weddings, unprofessional rudeness directed to journalists interviewing her, the public mocking of the Princess of Wales when she announced undergoing treatment for cancer, and the smear campaign to Mr. Baldoni, our primary concern is the sensitivity and responsibility towards the pressing issue of domestic abuse. With over 10 million individuals currently affected by domestic violence—affecting 1 in 4 women and 1 in 7 men in their lifetime—it is essential that the film’s narrative and PR continues to provide support and awareness.
We kindly ask the production team and all involved parties to make the Director's Cut of It Ends With Us available to the public, honoring Mr. Baldoni’s vision and supporting the cause of domestic violence awareness. And again, we ask the main actress publicly apologize to Justin Baldoni and Wayfarer Studious for such toxicity and harm created during the filming process as well as the PR tour.
Kind regards,
People who want to see Domestic Violence highlighted with intentionality and seriousness
