Free Ghadanfar Abu Atwan: imprisoned without charge or trail

Free Ghadanfar Abu Atwan: imprisoned without charge or trail
The Issue
Ghadanfar Abu Atwan is a Palestinian on hunger strike to protest his Administrative Detention in Israeli prison. His hunger strike is entering its 60th+ day. His health has recently deteriorated and yet the Israeli Government has not agreed to release him. He is at risk of serious health complication or death. According to Samidoun, the Palestinian Prisoner Solidary Network, Ghadanfar "...was seized by occupation forces in October 2020 and ordered to six months in administrative detention; his detention was then renewed for another six months, sparking him to launch his open hunger strike for freedom." www.samidoun.net
Administrative Detention is imprisonment without formal charge or trail, often of a length of one to six months that is indefinitely renewable. Many individuals imprisoned under Administrative Detention in Israel, most often Palestinians, spend years in prison without ever being formally charged. Often neither the individual nor their lawyers are allowed to see the supposed evidence being used to justify their detention. This practice is extremely troubling as it can be used to target individuals who protest for human rights or speak out about settlements and police brutality in the Occupied Palestinian Territories (West Bank). We must send a clear message to the Israeli Government that this unjust policy is not supported by the international community. We must also act to demand Ghadanfar's release before his health deteriorates further.
With this petition I am asking for human rights organizations and the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS) to intervene and demand the immediate release of Ghadanfar from his administrative detention and that he is transferred to a hospital in the West Bank where he can receive proper medical treatment. With this petition I am asking the Supreme Court of Israel to reverse their decision to extend Ghadanhar's administrative decision and fully and unconditionally release him immediately.
