This issue needs to come to light.

The two American ISG schools in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, DEMS (Dhahran Elementary Middle School) and DHS (Dhahran High School) are merging next school year and forming the school ASD (American School of Dhahran).

This name is a problem because ASD stands for Autism Spectrum Disorder, and Aspergers Syndrome, two very serious diseases. I find this frustrating, since our school will forever be associated with this disease we have nothing to do with, and It ruins the whole school spirit that existed before with DHS and DEMS. This is a poor choice of naming and I'm sure many others will agree too.

Sign this petition to reach out to ISG, and have the name changed. Have them change it to something more sensible, like DAA (Dhahran American Academy), DIS (Dhahran International School), ISD (International School of Dhahran), IAD (International Academy of Dhahran), DIA (Dhahran International Academy), or even IASD (International American School of Dhahran).

As shown above, there are many options, and I'm sure the ISG Board can think of many more. Just please, whatever you decide to name this school, make sure to put a lot of thought into your decision. Make sure you choose a name that students and alumni in the future will be proud of.
