Ischmiel Carter: Re-Open Missing Persons Case
The Issue
With heavy hearts, we remember and honor Ischmiel Carter: a loving son, brother, uncle, friend, and most importantly, a devoted father to his precious son, Ischmiel Carter Jr. His sudden and mysterious disappearance has left an unfillable void in the lives of those who knew and loved him.
Ischmiel had a heart full of love and laughter, always bringing joy to those around him. He had an undeniable passion for basketball, a sport that not only brought him excitement but also reflected his dedication and drive in life. He cherished every moment spent with his siblings, and his bond with them was one of strength, love, and unwavering support.
One of his greatest joys was stepping into fatherhood. Becoming a father to Ischmiel Jr. filled him with purpose and hope for the future. He embraced the role wholeheartedly, just as he did with his beloved niece, Ja’veaha, whom he loved and protected as if she were his own.
Beyond his love for family, Ischmiel had a gift for making people laugh. His presence lit up any room, and his humor could bring a smile to even the toughest of days. He was a protector, a provider, and a man with a heart that held so much love for those closest to him.
Though he is no longer with us, his spirit lives on in the love he shared, the memories he created, and the people who will never stop searching for answers. We will continue to honor him, to keep his name alive, and to hold onto the love he so freely gave.
This deeply personal tragedy is one among many in Shreveport, LA - a city that, in 2024, had a rate of around 12 missing people per 100,000 population (source: National Missing and Unidentified Persons System). The 3rd highest state. Despite these alarming statistics, Ischmiel's case appears to have been neglected by local law | enforcement: his vehicle has been spotted in Texas, yet his case remains closed.
Even worse is the failure to communicate directly with Ischmiel's family. Communication mainly happened with Ischmiel's ex-girlfriend, who was one of the last people to see him and offered inconsistent accounts of his whereabouts. These shortcomings in the investigation are unacceptable, and it's time for a more thorough and compassionate approach.
Reopening the case could offer much-needed solace for Ischmiel's family, including his 12 siblings and his son, Ischmiel Carter Jr., who all deserve to know what happened to Ischmiel. For their sake, and for the sake of justice, we implore the Shreveport law enforcement agencies to reopen the missing person case for Ischmiel Carter. Please sign this petition to ensure Ischmiel's case gets the attention it deserves.
