Many students have now left their university accommodation and moved home due to COVID-19. This now means they will no longer be living there, however IQ accommodation is trying to make students pay the final instalments of rent. This is a large amount of money, that most are going to be unable to find during a time of global crisis. 

Personally I have been staying in IQ Twerton Mill in Bath and attending Bath Spa university. In an email from the vice chancellor on Thursday 19th March we were informed that those staying in university accommodation would not have to pay the final instalment but that this did not include those in private accommodation even though this accommodation was assigned to student through the university. 

The aim of this petition is to stop students being out of pocket during a time of global crisis, this can be done in one of 2 ways:

1 - IQ accept that it is not fair to make student pay for somewhere they are not living and allow students to not pay the final instalment of rent, providing they have fully vacated the premises.

2 - Bath Spa university cover the cost of the final instalment in order to allow every student in halls of residence accommodation, that was assigned by the university, a fair chance. Many students that live at IQ Twerton Mill did not pick to live there but were given no alternative.
