Lighting for Providence Dog & Fitness Park

Lighting for Providence Dog & Fitness Park
The issue
Thinking of using the new Providence Dog or Fitness Park after hours?
You might want to think again, why? THERE WILL BE NO LIGHTING!
It seems having lighting in these types of parks is not a requirement.
Bizarre isn't it? Considering majority of people work during daylight hours why should they not be able to use these facilities after dark or early hours before sunrise.
Most people walk their dogs or use the exercise equipment at all times of the day when they have time to do so; restricting users to daylights hours only makes the parks unusable for many.
Many people walk their dogs and exercise in the later evenings and/or early mornings especially in the warmer months due the temperature being much cooler.
Not having lighting would mean these parks and areas would become useless to those who don’t get home in daylight hours.
Recommendation of Solar lighting with an estimated time shut off to at least 9pm would give sufficient time for use and also safety on these parks. Having these lighting restrictions stops local residents to be able to use their own local facilities that they may have specifically chosen the area to live in to use them.
Lighting is great for security and safety especially with parks easily being baited and having lighting could assist with this also.
This type of requirement should be looked into on all forward planning for getting people out and about at all hours of the evening for use of recreational parks and stop restricting these uses.
Help get lighting at our new pet and exercise parks!
This petition will be submitted to Ipswich City Council as a local concern within the community.
