Let's get Broomhill done!

Let's get Broomhill done!
The Issue
We want to deliver a positive message for the people of Ipswich. We back Broomhill!
We believe that the restoration and reopening Broomhill Pool would provide a focal hub for the community. It would boost the town’s physical and mental health. It would provide a safe space for young people to relax, have fun and stay out of trouble. It would create 22 new jobs and revitalise the local economy. It would be an inclusive space where everyone can have fun and form lifelong happy memories. It would provide an iconic attraction to make Ipswich proud.
We want Ipswich Borough Council, Fusion Lifestyle and the National Lottery Heritage Fund to know that we appreciate all their efforts to get this project close to fruition prior to the COVID pandemic. We continue to support them and ask that they do all they can to re-activate the restoration of Broomhill Pool as we emerge from this unprecedented challenge.
Background:
After 18 years campaigning, the people of Ipswich were finally set to see their beloved Broomhill Lido restored in 2021, with £7m of funding committed by Ipswich Borough Council (£1.5m), National Lottery Heritage Fund (£3.4m), and Fusion Lifestyle (£2.1m).
However, the COVID-19 pandemic has had a profound impact on the leisure sector. During lock-down, Fusion Lifestyle was forced to close all of its 200+ nationwide pools, gyms and sport centres, plus furlough some 3000 staff. Its capital plans are presently on hold and it is having to restructure all its operations.
Restoration and re-opening of Broomhill Pool is now on HOLD. There are major challenges ahead.
Yet, the case for Broomhill remains as strong as ever, even more so post Covid. Flexibility and goodwill from the three stakeholders will be paramount to see the project delivered. They have shown this to date. We call on them to maintain this spirit going forward, to see the project to completion.
With thanks to the Broomhill Pool Trust for their support.
