Investing in North Reddish Park: Accessible Pathway Project

Investing in North Reddish Park: Accessible Pathway Project
The Issue
🌳 North Reddish Park: A Path for Everyone 🌳
I’ve lived in Reddish for over 10 years, and North Reddish Park has been part of my everyday life, whether I’m enjoying a peaceful walk or cutting across to catch the train. In the summer, it’s a beautiful green space. But come winter, it becomes nearly impassable: shoes soaked, paths muddy, and access difficult for anyone not on solid footing.
I’ve walked the perimeter, 948 steps in total, and every one reveals how vital this park is to our community. It’s not just a shortcut. It’s a shared space for children to play, families to gather, older residents to relax, and our local football team to train. It even backs onto our GP surgery, making it a prime location for social prescribing and #walkingtherapy.
But right now, not everyone can enjoy it equally. If you’re pushing a pram, using a wheelchair, walking with a stick, or simply trying to reach North Reddish train station safely, the park becomes a barrier instead of a bridge.
That’s why we’re campaigning for a 170-metre accessible path, designed by Groundwork Greater Manchester. This isn’t just about paving a walkway, it’s about building a more inclusive, connected, and healthier Reddish.
✅ A safer space for families, footballers, and pedestrians
✅ A “no-dig” method to protect our trees and wildlife
✅ A direct link to the train station and wider community
✅ Year-round access for people of all ages and abilities
💚 This is a chance to invest in our future. To make our park a place where everyone belongs.
