Investigation - Vehicle Use Policy (Village of Maywood)

Investigation - Vehicle Use Policy (Village of Maywood)
The Issue
On May 13, 2022, the Village of Maywood's Ford Explorer was involved in a DUI arrest involving Maywood Village President Nathaniel George Booker. Nathaniel Booker plead guilty to DUI on May 31, 2024 resulting in court supervision for a term of 12 months. This embarrassing display of poor decision making brings into question how we hold elected officials accountable, define Village Business, reduce asset mismanagement and risk to public safety officials in the line of duty.
The residents and voters of the Village of Maywood DEMAND a formal investigation and finding from the Policy and Ordinance Committee and Board of Trustees to determine if a crime occurred in a Village Vehicle and how to address it accordingly. If we do not do this, we will enable poor and risky behavior that can cost the Village money and our reputation.
Now since video evidence and court documentation has been circulating in the public domain, now is the time to engage the community stakeholders and hold our local leaders accountable for how they represent our Village and spend our tax dollars!
