UPDATES..

Please read from 1 to 3 so it makes sense.

3,# I received an response June 25th, from Dr Claire Allen CEO of PMHC, this email response was evasive with once again PMHC are satisfied that PMAS followed procedures, but she cannot provide a date Kempsey council were notified of the two dogs being Tex and Rex.

( Question: so were they notified ) also it was stated 20 rescues were notified of the two dogs ( 20 ? ) but unfortunately also did not provide any names of rescues, in which I only requested names of two. Why wasn't Friends of Kempsey pound notified? They're a rescue, the dogs were from Kempsey.

In my opinion this was not investigated, as the public had requested, all answers were replied in a typical evasive way to avoid accountability and PMHC will never admit to error, even with the complaints of ignored emails ,it was not acknowledged that customer service department is not running effectively.

I question Dr Claire Allen's ability to be accurate and just in this circumstance. As you can see no questions were actually even answered.

I will include a copy of the correspondence to the updates, that get emailed out to those that signed the petition,  I like to stay transparent and feel it's important, everyone is updated and included. I will leave the decision to the public and once the number of supporters goes up, it can be taken further.

2,#  I received an email from Mathew Cosgrove the manager of customer service PMHC on June 13th, ensuring me the concerns put to them will be thoroughly investigated and to expect a response within 7 days, he stated PMHC take the public's concerns seriously.

June 14th the next day, I received an email from Dr Claire Allen CEO of PMHC, stating in her investigation the PMAS followed procedures, she addressed the ideas for improvement with a decline. And stated no information to follow up, Kempsey council were notified and rescues contacted, was all she was prepared to say.

I personally did not except her response as PMHC taking the publics concerns seriously at all, and doubted it had even been investigated, considering I heard back less than 24 hours later. I decided to simplify it with just two questions, on Tex and Rex, could she please provide the date Kempsey council was notified about the two dogs, and the names of the two rescues that PMAS had contacted, so the public can be assured all was done to save, these dogs lives.

1,#I  sent through an email to Peta Pinson mayor of Port Macquarie Hastings Shire, I found Peta to be very professional in her dealings with me and she showed compassion to the public's concerns. The complaint and query has now been transferred to the CEO of Port Macquarie Hastings Council for an investigation and hopefully will result in needed changes and hopefully accountability for Rex and Tex, on why Kempsey pound or rescue were not notified of these two dogs.

Thank you to all,  that have supported this petition.

With the Port Macquarie Animal Shelter high kill rate becoming a major concen, just to reassure the community the right procedures and ethical standards are met, also that they are within guidelines. The members of the public request an investigation into the high euthanasia rate.

Just to clarify this petition is aimed at changes through the PMHC that runs the shelter, and is no way aimed at the staff that work at the shelter, they are animal lovers and have empathy for the dogs situations.

This example below is why an investigation is needed.

# Two one year old, Mastiff brothers,Tex & Rex very friendly natured dogs, were from the Kempsey shire, unfortunately found themselves in Port Macquarie Animal Shelter.

The Kempsey council were not notified of the dogs being at Port Macquarie Animal Shelter, in which hindered them from returning home. The Friends of Kempsey pound members and the founder, we're very upset that they were euthanized, considering Kempsey is a no kill pound and the dogs, would've, if not claimed, gone to rescue. And be alive today.

A member of the public enquired on adopting these two dogs, but was told they were already euthanized, this was before the due date, no notification on the social media platform this was going to happen.

Buddy and Tank another 2 brothers Mastiff type breed euthanized did they get a fair chance? Were rescues notified?

Chungus, he was only a year old, sadly he was not coping very well at the shelter, rescue put a save on him with trainer on board. Unfortunately they put him down as a dangerous dog and euthanized him. Many were devastated as he was young and overwhelmed.

Statistics will show that with the past ways of management, the shelter was a low to no kill pound, at 5% has it been updated to the new percentage ? Is every attempt made to work with rescues, and the community, to ensure all of the dogs well being, ending in positive outcomes.

The current ways of  management, the shelter is now regarded as a high kill shelter.

As a concerned member of the Port Macquarie-Hastings Council community, I am raising my voice for those who cannot speak for themselves - the animals at our local animal shelter.

I personally believe the management's conduct has been questionable and it would seem certain breeds are being unfairly targeted. This is not what we expect from an institution that should be safeguarding animal welfare, rather than contributing to their suffering.

Animal welfare plays a crucial role within our community; it is about ensuring safety and giving a voice to the voiceless. The current situation at Port Macquarie Animal Shelter undermines these values and demands immediate attention.

We urgently call upon relevant authorities to conduct an investigation into these allegations as soon as possible. We need assurance of professional conduct in all operations involving animals in our community.

Numerous complaints have been sent into Port Macquarie Council with concerns, addressed to Ms Debbie Archer Group Environment & Regulatory Services. A generalised response is all that is responded, "It's a difficult time and the shelter is full"but most correspondence was simply ignored.

The public need to know procedures are practiced, with rescues contacted, correct up to date advertising on social media platforms, there have been, and are many questions.

The amended "Companion animals legislation," requires all councils to reach out to rescues and the community to find homes for dogs in their care.

Surely Port Macquarie Hastings Council would gladly reassure the public, that the animal shelter is run ethically and that, they practice with the upmost concerns for the welfare of the animals in its care.

All councils should be transparent with the community on its dealings, so far many complaints have been simply ignored!

With complaints being ignored how can we be reassured?

The ideal outcome will be that Port Macquarie Animal Shelter becomes a No Kill shelter working endlessly with rescues and the community to ensure the best and positive result for all animals in it's care.

#To allow positions to be created where a volunteer or paid position can work a role that solely aims at rescues and community advertising.

#The shelter becomes transparent in its dealing with the animals in its care.

Please join me in demanding justice for these innocent lives by signing this petition today. Let us ensure that every animal under our care receives the respect and protection they deserve.
