Investigate the national election of October 2025
The Issue
The National Election held on 29th October 2025 stands as a blemish on the democratic principles that are supposed to guide our nation.
As a youth in this country, I am deeply concerned about how the recent election unfolded. It is critical to safeguard the rights and the futures of upcoming generations by ensuring a genuinely democratic process.
During the election, the principles of democracy were blatantly ignored. The lack of adherence to a secret ballot compromised voter privacy, while hindering a thriving multiparty system undermined the diversity of political choices available to citizens.
Perhaps most concerningly, the absence of an independent national electoral commission called into question the integrity of the entire electoral process.
The discrepancies in the announced results on 1st November 2025 cast further doubt. Although statistics should present a clear view of the electoral landscape, these results do not add up or make sense, raising suspicions of potential malpractice.
It is also concerning how the right to freedom of speech is oppressed by shutting down the internet from the day of the national election to 3rd November 2025, the day President Samia Hassan was sworn in for a second term (Her first "elected" term; as the ruling government believes) This is a total of 5 to 6 days of putting citizens in the dark. It was thought that everything was back to normal, but in reality, the government is still said to monitor phone calls and also limit access to services such as WhatsApp and Twitter (now called X).
I urge the concerned authorities and the International Court of Justice to launch a thorough investigation into this election and take legal action.
We cannot remain silent while our democratic rights are compromised.

Since the election began on 29th October 2025, there have been many occasions that have left the citizens of Tanzania speechless, feeling powerless and, at times, hopeless.
The long-standing greed for power by the ruling government had worn out the citizens' patience, and hence, the widespread Protests began. For years, the country has neglected the young generation, which is believed to be the country's working force.
Despite the high level of education the youths can achieve, the government has been slacking on providing employment opportunities. This has led to the growth of youths whose lives are hand-to-mouth daily.
The citizens have many questions for the government.
Where do our taxes go? How is the national budget used? Why are our infrastructures always in the same poor condition? When are they going to improve the lives of the honest citizens who are actually striving to thrive?
These are a few of many questions that we want answers to from the government.
Please sign this petition to demand accountability and ensure a fair examination of the events surrounding the election.
Together, we can push for a fair democratic process that respects and protects the rights of the youth and the entire nation.

The articles below legally explain what is truly happening in the country.
1) On 31 October, the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) reported at least 10 confirmed deaths and expressed concern about the use of force.

2) During the National elections, both internal and external observers are required to ensure that the entire procedure is carried out in accordance with the law and democratic principles. However, it was as broad as daylight that no fair election had taken place. A major media outlet, BBC African News, explained everything that has been happening regarding the 2025 election.

3) Tanzania's Foreign Minister, interviewed by Al Jazeera news, was clearly lying about why they have shut down the internet and also denied the fact that hundreds of protesters, who are also citizens of Tanzania, are being killed by the armed forces.
What’s driving unrest in Tanzania after the president’s election? [1 November 2025]
4) Since the start of the new Presidential term on 3 November 2025, there has been a high rate of killing of citizens and arrest of more than a hundred youths all over the country. The government claims that these citizens are under arrest for treason. And therefore, on standby to sentence them to death. This is an act of pure dictatorship.
