This is an urgent call for an investigation into the practices of the Independent Defense Organization (IDO) in Santa Clara County, as I believe it may be involved in systemic corruption and fraud, serving as a tool to protect the interests of the county at the expense of defendants rights.

In my own case, I was assigned an attorney through the IDO who has shown a clear lack of competence, failed to represent my interests, and engaged in actions that hindered my ability to seek justice. After multiple failed attempts to get adequate legal representation, it became increasingly evident that the system is flawed. The IDO involvement has led me to suspect a deliberate pattern of conflict of interest where attorneys assigned through this organization may actively work against the interests of their clients, especially when a claim against the county is in play.

The potential for corruption in this system is not just a personal issue, but one that affects the entire community. If this organization is allowed to continue its operations unchecked, it risks silencing legitimate claims against the county, leaving individuals without fair legal counsel or recourse when their rights are violated. This practice puts the most vulnerable at risk, as it becomes a mechanism for protecting powerful interests rather than upholding justice.

I am not alone in believing that the IDO may be fundamentally flawed, and I urge you to support this petition to ensure that no one else has to go through what I have. We need a system that is transparent, fair, and just—a system that works for the people, not against them. It’s time to hold the IDO accountable and protect those who may otherwise never have the chance for a fair defense.
