The conditions at SCI Fayette Prison have alarmed me personally as my son is one of the prisoners within its walls. There are rising concerns and reports about the treatment of incarcerated individuals at this prison, and their well-being. The reported abuse on inmates is a clear violation of their legal and civil rights. Inmates are entitled to basic human dignity, yet everyday seems to bring more evidence that these rights are being eroded at SCI Fayette.

Inaction is not an option. We must demand that the Department of Corrections sends a team to thoroughly investigate the SCI Fayette prison. Not only should they look into the reported abusive practices, but they must also ensure that the facility is maintaining the required standard of care for its inmates.

In the Land of the Free, the wrongful treatment of any individual tarnishes our social fabric. It is our responsibility to insist on corrective measures where abuse exists, and to reinforce the human rights of every incarcerated individual in our country.
