Investigate PG&E and California Public Utilities Commission For Potential Fraud

Investigate PG&E and California Public Utilities Commission For Potential Fraud
The Issue
I am a concerned resident of California, and I'm alarmed by the increasing electric bills in spite of my household's drastic cut back on electricity usage. Even more troubling are the shifts in solar rates and policies which appear to benefit Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) rather than consumers like us. I believe it's high time we probe the relationship between PG&E and the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC).
The nature of the relationship between PG&E and CPUC seems questionable to many of us, as these astronomical rate hikes are coinciding with increasing profit reports from PG&E. The Economic Policy Institute states that the average electricity price in California has risen from 15.34 cents per kWh in 2010 to 19.90 cents per kWh in 2020, a nearly 30% increase. Meanwhile, restrictions and penalties have been imposed on the solar sector, further suffocating the residential consumer who is trying to adopt greener alternatives.
Ordinary people like us have to face the burden of high utility bills, while corporations are reaping profits. It's time to establish transparency and fairness in these dealings.
These latest rate hikes were sold as necessary to bury power lines to prevent wild fires but they seem to be pocketing most of that income. PG&E has only managed to bury 0.5% of their above ground lines from 2021-2023 and project to bury only another 0.2% in 2024 despite reaping a $2 billion dollar profit in 2023.
We are demanding a fair, unbiased, and complete investigation into the relationship between PG&E and CPUC to ensure that they are operating in the interest of the people, and not just for increased corporate profit. By signing this petition, you're supporting our call for transparency and accountability, ensuring that our interests are prioritized. Please sign the petition.
