I am writing to express our deep concern over the recent developments regarding the land where Strathendrick Care Home in Balfron was situated. It is known that this land was bequeathed to the village with a clear intention to benefit the elderly. However, Stirling Council has now taken over this land and plans to build new homes at an exorbitant cost. Given the absence of land purchase costs, this raises questions about the justification for such high expenses.

Our villages already suffer from unreliable public transport, and our elderly and disabled communities face significant challenges due to homes being difficult to access without a car. It's heartbreaking to witness individuals who have lived their entire lives here being sent to spend their last days in unfamiliar environments, far from their loved ones.

Moreover, there is a housing shortage impacting our village, emphasizing the need for thoughtful planning in utilizing community resources. The current proposal's exorbitant costs demand transparency, especially considering the land's original purpose and ownership status. When Members of Parliament have questioned these matters without receiving clear answers, it becomes imperative for us, the tax-paying public, to step forward and demand accountability.

We hereby request a thorough investigation into how Stirling Council acquired the land meant to serve our elderly. We need clarity on their plans and assurances that these actions align with the community's interests. It is our right to hold those in power accountable and ensure these decisions truly serve us.
