Investigate FAME Cars Birmingham for Allegedly Selling Unsafe Vehicles and Fraudulent MOTs

Investigate FAME Cars Birmingham for Allegedly Selling Unsafe Vehicles and Fraudulent MOTs
The issue
A garage in Birmingham sold me a car that should never have passed its MOT.
It wasn’t just faulty — it was dangerous. And I’m not the only one.
Now I’m calling on the DVSA, Trading Standards, Birmingham City Council, and DVLA to investigate before someone gets seriously hurt.
Call for Investigation into FAME Cars Birmingham – Protect Consumers and Our Roads
To: Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA), Trading Standards West Midlands, Birmingham City Council, DVLA
Earlier this year, I bought a used Fiat 500 from FAME Cars Birmingham for £4,400. It came with an MOT certificate confirming it was roadworthy. Within 8 weeks, the car broke down completely.
When independent mechanics examined it, they found a serious fault with the pendulum mount — something that would have made the car unsafe to drive and should have caused an MOT failure.
I’m not the only one. Many other customers have reported buying cars from this garage that quickly developed dangerous faults, raising questions over how these vehicles passed their MOTs.
This isn’t just about one bad garage — it’s about public safety and trust in the MOT system. If vehicles that fail basic safety standards can be given MOT certificates, anyone on the road could be at risk.
What We’re Demanding:
We call on the DVSA, Trading Standards, Birmingham City Council, and DVLA to:
- Investigate FAME Cars Birmingham’s MOT and sales practices.
- Take enforcement action where fraudulent or negligent behaviour is found.
- Revoke licences if necessary to prevent further risk.
- Warn the public about unsafe vehicles and compromised MOTs.
Why It Matters:
Even if you’ve never bought from this garage, you could be sharing the road with one of these vehicles. Faulty brakes, steering, or suspension don’t just endanger the driver — they endanger everyone.
Our Next Steps:
Step 1 – Public Action: Reviews and warnings will be posted on Google, Trustpilot, AutoTrader, and other platforms, alongside a social media campaign.
Step 2 – Official Reporting: Complaints filed with the DVSA and Trading Standards for MOT and Consumer Rights Act violations.
Step 3 – Extended Reporting: Full case report submitted to Birmingham City Council, Trading Standards, DVSA, and DVLA with all documented evidence.
Step 4 – Legal Proceedings: Small Claims Court action to recover costs, with legal fees added, and public reporting of the outcome.
How You Can Help:
Sign and share this petition so the authorities know the public expects swift action. Every signature adds weight to the call for a thorough investigation and real consequences.
Unsafe cars should never be on our roads — and MOT fraud must not go unchecked.
