The Issue

As students of Delaware State University, we demand answers. There are so many issues with this establishment. Absurd charges are constantly given to students. Scholarships are being taken or not applied. Sexual assault cases go unaddressed. Dining halls are overpopulated, and the food is often disgusting. There's much more.
Currently, a school-wide housing issue exists. Despite paying deposits back in March, many housing assignments have still not been assigned. Students that have received housing are being placed in dormitories that are not applicable to their classification. For example, freshmen are being placed in upperclassman dorms, and upperclassmen, even seniors, are receiving freshman-only dormitories. This, paired with the fact that assignments haven't been released opens the possibility of a freshman student being assigned roommates with a senior! Calling the phone number for support will result in an automatic decline or a clueless person on the other end. Not to mention that our housing options are disgusting. Most dormitories have roaches, mold, air, and water issues. They are asking for payment in full by August 7th, but they have not applied any scholarships to these charges, and we don't even know our housing (The most expensive charge for most). This is on top of all the existing issues mentioned before. How is there only one person working on housing for thousands of students? This is unacceptable for the amount of money we are paying.
Why is DSU continuing to accept students without space to place them? Where is all the money Del State receives from hiking the tuition? Where is all the money for the made-up "fees" and "damages" they take from students? We need answers. This petition isn't about just one issue, it's about the constant issues throughout our university. For President Tony Allen, this is a free house paid for by the university. For us, it's our undergraduate/graduate education and tens of thousands of dollars each, if not more. Support this petition so we can confront our school officials and demand change. We must act immediately before students are penalized for not paying unknown charges.
