Recently, numerous concerning complaints about Colby College’s dining services have surfaced, detailing how students are contracting food poisoning from the dining halls. In addition to this, a staggering number of students have reported undercooked chicken and mold in the food served at the College’s cafeterias.

A single case of food poisoning is already unacceptable, but a large number of cases happening on a consistent and frequent basis is inadmissible, negligent, and severely dangerous to the health and safety of the College’s students, faculty, and guests.

This matter is a clear and present health hazard that requires immediate investigation for the sake of the Colby community’s health and wellbeing.

Thus, we are asking that the President of the College David A. Greene, the Dean of the College Gustavo Burkett, the Campus Executive Chef at Bon Appetit Michael Downey, and the Director of Student Wellness Collyn J. Baeder collaborate to address and resolve this issue.
