In Arkansas, citizens like myself have faced repeated injustices at the hands of local law enforcement. Personally, I've experienced firsthand the inequalities present in Boone and Carroll counties. I was slapped with felony charges for actions that, under fair circumstances, would have been considered misdemeanors. Meanwhile, others committing similar acts faced little to no repercussions. It's a glaring example of inequity that needs urgent attention.

Recent events have further highlighted these disparities. Last year alone, Carroll County saw a disturbing increase in shootings. Alarmingly, two murderers walked free, one of whom had connections within the sheriff’s department—evidence of the nepotism and corruption rampant in our local law enforcement.

These incidents aren't isolated. They paint a broader picture of systemic issues within the Boone County and Carroll County Sheriff’s Departments. The citizens of Arkansas deserve better—law enforcement that is just, unbiased, and accountable. This is why we call upon the Governor of Arkansas, state senators, and other political leaders to initiate a comprehensive investigation into these departments.

We need to root out corruption and ensure that our law enforcement agencies serve and protect without prejudice. Hiring new employees, irrespective of the cost, is essential to restore trust and integrity in our law enforcement system.
