When I was 17 years old, I encountered a disturbing incident that directly involved Superintendent Fabion Gomez. I had expressed interest in dating his son, who was in the same grade as me. However, during school hours, both Mr. Gomez and his wife, who are employees at the school, cruelly insinuated that my history as a child of sexual abuse would come into play if I dated their son by suggesting that I might falsely accuse him of assault. Their stance not only hurt me deeply on a personal level but it also perpetuates harmful stereotypes about survivors of abuse and fails to consider their emotional well-being.

Additionally, Mr. Gomez turned a blind eye to the harassment I endured from my peers. I was not the first, and have not been the last to experience the unjust treatment he's bought with him to our community. 

As an education leader, it is his duty to provide a safe and supportive environment for all students. His refusal to address these issues raises concerns about his ability to protect and prioritize the well-being of the students under his care.

Superintendent Fabion Gomez's behavior is not only unethical but violates the principles of equality and respect that our educational institutions must uphold. It is critical to foster a community where students feel secure, supported, and free from discrimination.

We urge the local school board to conduct a thorough investigation into the actions of Superintendent Fabion Gomez. This investigation should explore this specific case, as well as any other potential instances of misconduct. A leader of his position must be held accountable for any actions that jeopardize student safety and well-being.

In such a position of authority, demonstrating fairness, empathy, and respect is imperative. When these values are compromised, it is the responsibility of the overseeing bodies to ensure that corrective actions are taken, which include removal from the position if necessary.

Many have come forward expressing their grievances and negative experiences since Mr. Gomez has joined our school district. I implore you to do so once again and please join me in calling on the local school board to investigate and if needed, remove Superintendent Fabion Gomez from his position.
