Invest money in the safety of I-81 between Martinsburg and Chambersburg

Invest money in the safety of I-81 between Martinsburg and Chambersburg
The Issue
The 40 mile stretch of I-81 that runs between Martinsburg and Chambersburg has to be one of the most dangerous stretches of highway in the United States. I-81 is the most heavily traveled truck route on the east coast and in this 40 mile stretch it runs directly through this major metropolitan area of over 300,000 residents. Despite these facts, this 40 mile stretch of I-81 remains only two lanes, with several no-merge entrances and no lane restrictions.
Many of the accidents that take place involve tractor trailers, violent acts of road rage, and fatalities. The States of Maryland, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania must come together to find a solution that will improve the safety of this stretch of road and reduce the heavy traffic in these major populated areas.
Please invest money in the safety of I-81 that runs through Martinsburg, Hagerstown, and Chambersburg.
