Introduce Paved Roads in the Commerce Neighborhood of West Des Moines

The Issue

As a resident of the Commerce neighborhood in West Des Moines, I am personally affected by the lack of paved roads, an issue that urgently needs to be addressed. This neighborhood remains one of the very few within West Des Moines still waiting for the installation of paved roads. The absence of such roads not only hinders community development, but is also a risk to safety and a strain on our budgets.

The maintenance required to control the dust from our unpaved roads is overwhelming for residents. More so, the frequent application of tar/oil for dust management seems to be an ineffective solution and short-term fix. It's not only expensive but also harmful to our environment and the overall condition of our roads.

According to research, paved roads are significantly safer and require less regular maintenance than unpaved ones, thus reducing long-term costs (Source: International Journal of Pavement Engineering). They also improve a neighborhood's overall aesthetic, increase property values, and reduce vehicle damage caused by rough, unpaved surfaces.

Change starts with us. Let us bring safer, more cost-effective, and environmentally friendly roads to our cherished Commerce neighborhood. It's time to pave the way for a better and brighter future for all residents who call this neighborhood home. Please sign this petition today in favor of introducing paved roads to the Commerce Neighborhood of West Des Moines.
