I raise this issue as a native to Great Britain who has watched with unease as the values I hold decline, coupled with increasing instances of violence and terror inflicted on this country, This has heightened my concern and led me to advocate for a transformation in our legislation. As a country, we are facing ongoing threats both locally and nationally. As citizens, we should have the right to adequately protect ourselves, our families, our homes, and fellow citizens. Multiple instances have shown us that attacks could have been mitigated or entirely prevented if we were legally equipped to defend ourselves.

Our proposal is not merely for the right to bear arms - it is accompanied by a call for the integration of self-defence classes into our education system. There is growing agreement that teaching children and adults how to stay safe is paramount. There is no reason why this critical life skill should be left out of our schools' curriculum.

Legislation permitting citizens to carry arms exists in many countries, such as the United States, which, according to a survey by the Pew Research Centre, 48% of Americans claim that guns make them feel safer. While the British culture differs significantly, this statistic outlines the peace of mind that the lawful ability to protect oneself can offer.
