Introduce Flexible Fencing Rules for Palmetto Hall Residents

Introduce Flexible Fencing Rules for Palmetto Hall Residents
The Issue
I am a resident of Palmetto Hall and like many families in our community, my fur babies - two amazing dogs - are like my children. Their safety, freedom, and overall health are paramount to me. Unfortunately, the current regulation, which pairs the right of fencing one's property with the mandate of owning a swimming pool, restricts me from providing my furry family members the freedom they deserve within the safety confines of a fence at our home.
This restriction doesn’t reflect the needs of our diverse community. Not every resident needs a pool but many have pets or young children who could benefit from the safety and containment of a backyard fence.
In the broader US, 3.3 million pets are placed in shelters, as per the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA). A considerable portion is made up of dogs who, due to lack of containment facilities, cause trouble in neighborhoods or pose safety risks to themselves and others.
Our proposal aims for a revision to these rules, focusing on the need for residents to decide independently about fencing their property, without the swimming pool requirement. By doing so, we not only provide a safer environment for our pets and children but also cater better to the diverse needs of Palmetto Hall's community members.
The safety and happiness of our pets, children, and community members should precede the aesthetics of the neighborhood. We urge the authority to reconsider their stance.
Sign the petition to give clarity to our voices and bring about this much-desired change.
We will also schedule a community meeting to discuss and then take our voice to the PH Board of Directors.
